Truro High School was also there for Cornwall’s first Lego League Challenge. REDS heard about the team’s solar panel assignment and had the opportunity to tell them more about REDS Group and what we do. It was great to see the girls intrigued and asking questions about our recent projects.

The Lego League is a global STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programme to encourage young people to use STEM to tackle the real-world problems around them.

The team from Truro High School’s Prep 5 had to build and design robots to undertake tasks. They also presented their innovative plan to use technology to create self-cleaning solar panels.

The event was organised by the Cornwall Council with the help of the Royal Navy and is just one of many ways they give back to our community.

The girls performed brilliantly, finishing second overall and winning a place in the national finals. The team worked round the clock to prepare for the challenge with the girls giving up every minute before and after school to perfect their programming.
